It’s the one your were immediately inclined to, the one you thought about before actually trying on, and the one you were expecting to feel confident in.
It’s also the one you were disappointed by when you weren’t as in love with it as you initially thought you’d be. Whether it’s the pants you thought would hug your hips a little more than they do or the bra that was once your hype man, outfit disappointment always hurts. And for me, that disappointment lead to 7 pairs of pants on my floor, 8 now- wrinkled shirt options on my bed, and a battle between my body and mind.
Feeling defeated, I’d get up off my bed and shamefully pick up the first outfit I tried on. Now feeling rushed, I’d throw on some makeup and run out the door knowing my upside down room awaits me at home.
So, if I have learned anything from years of repeat outfit disappointment it’s this:
You always look best in the first outfit you choose. Wear it. And wear it with confidence. Don’t waist your time ripping apart your closet. You don’t want to have to clean that up!
It never actually matters. Unless you are walking down the isle, you won’t remember what you wore. You will remember who you were with, how you felt, and the memories you made.
Think about a moment when you felt happy. Do you remember what you were wearing? And if the answer is yes, do you hate the way you looked when you were wearing it? No! Because that’s not what made that moment special. And it never ever will be. Even when you’re walking down the isle. Especially when you’re walking down the isle.
